A-2: LED Definitions

There are several LED indicators on the housing of a Router. They are

defined as follows:

• PWR : Power

• ALV : Alive. Blinks when the SMCWHSG44-G is working normally.

• RF : IEEE 802.11b/g interface activity

• WAN/LAN : Ethernet WAN/LAN interface activity

Appendix B: Troubleshooting

Check the following first:

• Make sure that the power of the Router is on and the Ethernet cables are

connected firmly to the RJ-45 jacks of the Router.

• Make sure that the LED ALV of the Router is blinking to indicate the

Router is working.

• Make sure the types of the Ethernet cables are correct. Recall that there

are two types-normal and crossover.

• Make sure that the DSL or cable modem connected to the Router is

powered on.
